I began my post-college career in Environmental Sciences by joining Breitling Consulting located in Burleson, Texas. For the past year and a half, I have entered the world of air permitting, in particular Permit By Rule (PBR) applications for oil and gas facilities. I performed calculations and wrote reports for these PBRs and registered them with the TCEQ if necessary. I also performed Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with the ASTM standard. Typical sites I have conducted Phase 1's on have varied from industrial facilities to agricultural land. This past December, I also became a licensed Asbestos Inspector with the State of Texas, which allows me to collect building samples in order determine the likelihood of asbestos containing materials, typically for demolition projects. Prior to working at Breitling Consulting, I had the opportunity to intern at Alcon Laboratories Headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. During my time at Alcon as a Health, Safety, and Environment intern, I was able to create a database and assess nearly 200 confined spaces on north campus. Along with confined space assessments, I was able to transition Alcon to a new hazardous waste vendor for over 100 waste/hazardous waste streams on campus. Other tasks included assisting in Title V air permit renewal and sorting chemical inventories of over 2000 chemicals.I highly enjoy the experience and knowledge I have gained, and am continuing to gain on a daily basis in the field of Environmental Sciences!
