I began my legal career in High School working half days for the Livingston County Board of Equalization. After graduation I went on to work for First Metropolitan Title company as a tax and title examiner for several years. My next step was working as a mortgage loan processor. When I moved to California I worked for a Real Estate duo who were focused in the Fab Forties in Sacramento. A sudden death in the family took me back to Michigan to run the family Christmas Tree Farm. It was a beautiful 80 acres with a log cabin that sat in right in the middle. It was seven years and a lot of work - we also flipped a house. When I returned to California I landed at Coherent, Inc. in Auburn, CA. I grew into a position as a Production Planner II for our military and medical laser optics line. Fast forward to 2016 when my Mom suddenly passed in six short days. Four days later our 25 year youngSon perished in a hiking accident. The following two years I spent caring for my Dad and Best Friend while they fought for their lives. I lost 11 close family and friends over the next few years. This is when I discovered what an LDA (Legal Document Assistant) is and I began my education. I completed the program with high marks and feel very fortunate to have found my "path".I've learned first hand how important it is to have a plan and have your legal documents in order. It took two years to probate my Mothers small (less than 5k) "estate" and then I had my Dads to handle. It was truly heartbreaking at times. Medicaid has a five year "reach back" - some call it a "claw back" .... I was forced to re-title my parents assets in order for them to qualify for medicaid. No one tells you about the reach back. Sadly my Brother was killed when he was hit by a car May of 2020. No one knew he hadn't divorced his last wife who had been estranged for years. Yet she was entitled to a share of his "estate"... So, having had those experiences first hand - I know everyone should have a plan. Beginning at age 18 - people should have documents protecting their "adult" children. No one tells you how important it is to have your documentation and a plan in place. When an emergency strikes it's too late, peoples hands are tied. It is now my gift, my honor to offer families and loved ones an emergency plan, a resiliency plan, a pivot plan. Often times it is so easy to put these things off - I'm here to help people get it done affordably! The cost of being prepared is a fraction of the "cost"... or the price that's paid, when nothing is in place.
