    I am inspired by organizations that are working to meet people's most basic needs - food, shelter, safety and health. I first realized this when I started volunteering at the Alameda County Food Bank, which delivers millions of meals a year. My work there spurred me to look for more ways I could help.One Bread Foundation helps children who have been victims of sex trafficking. Starting in July 2020, I have been working with them as a grant writer and advisory board member. In addition to the basic responsibilities of sourcing and writing grants, I work with directors to clarify their needs and plans for using funds. This helps provide the details required for an effective grant while at the same time helping the team better articulate their plans so that they could be more successful in executing once they do receive funds. I also developed a library of content to be used in future grant applications and interviewed potential applicants to expand the grant writing team.Courageous Women Association serves women who are survivors of domestic abuse. I first started working with CWA as a volunteer at one of their events in October 2019. Moved by their mission, I helped them develop a pitch for 100+ Women Who Care and helped them raise $5,000. More recently, I’ve identified grants to apply for, helped them collate the documents and information they’ll need to apply, and started writing and submitting applications.
