I have lived in seven states: Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, and North Dakota. In Wyoming, I graduated high school and attended college. I have learned to manage the unexpected with grace in my professional and personal lives. Things happen—people change, processes change—and when they do, I work through those changes with understanding and without fear or anger. Unexpected events will always occur in life and at work. When these events occur, we need to make the best choices to keep moving forward. At First Interstate, I had a mentor. While I was there, this individual taught me how to make the best decision with the information provided. They instilled in me not to dwell on things and consistently move forward with purpose. I learned about empowerment and the importance of a team knowing their decisions are trusted—and simultaneously, I learned the importance of balance. Sometimes others need to allow outside input, but it should be through positive guidance. This relationship molded me into the leader that I am today. Self-improvement is a constant to me. In those around me, I seek challenges to build their abilities and empower them to smash their goals—and make sure we have fun doing it.
