Who We Are:Founded 2022, Laila’s Gift is a non-profit that is committed to advocating for, supporting, and celebrating the birthdays and significant milestones of children with special needs and disabilities while shedding light on the challenges faced by their caregivers. With your support, we are creating a world where children with special needs and disabilities are cherished by providing resources, encouragement, support and celebrations tailored to their liking, along with featuring their stories and journeys on our websites.How we started:Laila and her twin sister, Lana, were born on September 5, 2014. While Lana was considered “normal,” Laila was born with a rare condition called Jacobsen Syndrome. At the time, there were only about 100 documented cases of this very rare gene syndrome in the entire world. According to the data, roughly 25% of infants born with Jacobsen Syndrome pass away before the age of 2, making each birthday a momentous occasion. Since that time, we have celebrated 8 such milestones, as Laila continues to defy the odds, overcoming countless adversities along the way. Her courage and joy prompted Laila’s mom, Shari Bailey, to launch Laila’s Gift, Inc. in 2022 to bring happiness to other children with special needs and disabilities in our community.How you can help:Your donations, which are tax-deductible, enable us to continue advocating for, supporting and celebrating children with special needs and disabilities, and their families. We bring smiles to every child with special needs and disabilities by celebrating their birthdays and significant milestones. We also organize inclusive community events to create experiences that promote a community of support and engagement for these families.
