The mission of the Social & Racial Justice Committee is to engage, educate, and empower and to galvanize grassroots and direct action on issues relevant to social, racial, and economic justice.

I helped care for injured and orphaned wildlife: eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, bears, foxes, and anything else that found its way to us!

Taught Biology 160 Principles of Living Systems Fall 2013 semester. This was a hybrid class offered once a week with one hour of on line community learning, two hours of lab and two hours lecture/classroom activities. Through small group work, individual projects and mini-lectures directed to the specific majors of my students I differentiated instruction to meet each student's unique needs.

I got to spend my days wandering around Yellowstone looking for wild animals, photographing them, and expounding upon my knowledge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem with clients from around the world.

Coordinated with SILC leadership team to provide an integrated plan of instruction for enrolled teachers. Provided professional development support to teachers in classrooms through training, modeling and instructing in science content and inquiry methodology, in addition to integration of Indian Education for All lessons. Developed, organized and provided staff professional development programs. Collaborated with enrolled teachers to prepare exemplary lessons and units to enhance student knowledge. Helped teachers by providing the required materials for certain lesson plans and projects. Contributed as member of Science and IEFA Curriculum Learning Teams. Facilitated teacher understanding, use, and integration of technology including web-based communication and professional development tools. Analyzed standardized testing data and make recommendations for changes in instruction to improve student scores. Conducted research and keep abreast of current research-based science pedagogy. Represented Bozeman Public Schools by presenting current research and data on embedded professional development at local, state, and national conferences.

2006-2007: responsible for self-contained 6th-8th grade newcomer program for Latino/Spanish speaking students. Developed all core curricula for science, math, geography, social studies, English language development, and social skills/team building. Students ran a fundraiser and raised over $2,000 to attend Expedition: Yellowstone!, 5-day residential outdoor education program in Yellowstone National Park. Participated in Wyoming Stream Team surveys with NRCS contributing to the statewide database of stream data. 2007-2008: responsible for 6th-8th grade English language learner science classes. Collaboratively developed with students semester long study of local ecosystem including: Wyoming Stream Team field study, local expert demonstrations and culminating project-debate by students (“Green” developer vs. “Greedy” developer) featured in newspaper and attended by Mayor, City Councilwoman, and other citizens. Facilitator of professional learning community. Completed 3-credit action research project based on student leadership of ecosystem unit. 2008-2009: responsible for 6th-7th grades English language learner science. Collaborative teacher in 6th-8th grade classes.

Created engaging, child centered curriculum for a multi-grade setting.
