•Oversee & administrate the City’s traffic signal and roadway lighting maintenance programs. •Develop, write, maintain and update contract specifications. •Implement, coordinate, supervise and inspect preventative and response maintenance work for 69 signalized intersections, 23 flasher systems and 5,700 roadway lighting locations throughout the City. •Review, maintain and update programming parameters at signalized intersections and in school zones.•Programming, general troubleshooting of traffic controllers and auxiliary equipment.•Undertake and assist with the installation of new equipment. •Undertake capital and operational pre-planned work projects involving traffic signals, roadway lighting and parking lot facilities. •Plan, coordinate, administrate and implement all phases of projects.•Arrange and layout electrical and civil designs, prepare construction drawings and cost estimates and write tender specifications. •Research, develop and write technical specifications for electrical equipment, electronic devices, hardware and materials. •Oversee, coordinate, schedule, supervise and inspect field activity and/or construction work.•Review & comment on residential, commercial and industrial development site plans. •Research and write technical reports.•Prepare traffic signal warrant assessments, intersection capacity analysis, traffic control plans, etc. and assist with transportation studies.•Assist with annual budget preparation.•Monitor and review existing signal and lighting infrastructure condition. Perform ‘Level of Service’ assessment at signalized intersections. Determine the needs and plan for future improvements. •Research and recommend cost effective and innovative products that would improve traffic operations, promote safety and cost savings in the medium and long term.•Support and assist City departments and community organizations. Provide input, plan, coordinate, design and manage their special projects.
