Actuarial Data Intern
Helped in the actuarial and data science department during the transition of splitting one actuary database into two. The transition moved from a linear ETL critical path to a parallel ETL critical path. Using Oracle Developer, SQL queries, and Excel spreadsheets, I analyzed vast databases, nested procedures, and various schemas in search of table dependencies and database links. The final result involved certain ETL procedures being able to run parallel to one another. I also helped with data listings, syntax legibility, deletion of NULL fields, and regression testing using: the COUNT aggregate function, the MINUS operator, and Venn diagrams. Increased my skills with table transformation and analyzing business metrics using tools like subqueries and CASE statements. Gained a broader knowledge of Workers’ Compensation Insurance concepts.
