Update and modernization of the parcel deliver information system for Slovak national post to enable it handling ever increasing number of parcels delivered by the Slovak Post.System works with regional sorting centers and big number of local post offices to provide public and internal tracking of location for each parcel and registered mail, and its architecture (conceived 20 years ago) reaches its capacity limit.The task is to identify current bottlenecks and create the solution that would resolve the existing problem, will scale easily in future and prepare plan of gradual upgrade of the system w/o impacting the daily business activities.

Numantra is a startup company targeting the Process Mining and Robotic Process Automation niche market, currently in a phase of developing the MVP to enter the market and obtain investment funding. The aim is to work with SAP S4/HANNA API to extract the business process’ events, analyse it and present visual representation highlighting potential issues with business flow based on comparing multiple flows. I’ve engaged with the founder to help with defining the architecture and addressing data security concerns identify the correct technology and algorithms and to develop several specialized components:1. I wrote a Regex based Kafka sink to transform incoming messages with help of regular expression, stored in distributed KV store in RAFT consensus cluster (using its Java implementation from Atomix/Copycat projects), with SOLR search engine, I have also customized the RAFT Cluster Java code to work directly with RockDB (fast Key-Value file-based store), 2. Converted the Windows desktop (java based) tool ProM to a Spring Boot/REST micro-service deployable to Docker (on AWS) to avail of its process mining algorithms3. Porting the Oracle RDBMS release 10g from Solaris to other operating systems the Oracle 10g was being released on, specializing on the networking and security subsytems.Job was porting the changes in main code line (Solaris, daily code labels) in OS-specific files to all other platforms on which Oracle was releasing the RDBMS version 10g. I was responsible for propagating changes (usually C source, or perl, but even x64 assembler), fixing the compilation errors. Running platform dependent regression test and diagnosing/debugging the Oracle RDBMS engine to identify and possibly fix the differences from the referential test results produced by core product development team on primary Solaris platform. Other but less popular duties were backporting bug fixes on demand to other platform.

Logica Mobile Networks in Dublin.I came to Dublin on assignment to work on SW for mobile network operators. Logica was having leading market share with system for SMS service, and I was responsible for implementing the module that handles SMS coming from prepaid (no-contract, pay-as-you-go) handsets. The design was done in cooperation with other engineer who left company right after the design completion, so I did completed this module on my own, supporting end enhancing its features, re-wrote it for the next generation of the system. I worked predominantly in C, with SS7 protocol and other aspects of data transfer over the mobile networks.

Filling in a vacated position on the project in Taipei, Taiwan. The Bill (invoice) Generator module in large billing system integration work for thr KG Mobile operator was mis-behaving (dumping core at random intervals for random reasons) threatening the whole project and because of my experience gained on the previous work on the same module in Holland, I was called to the rescue. (Mystery bug was plain coding error of freeing same object twice, which in turn allowed OS to allocate the same memory region twice, but to different objects...) 9 month project was big success and was actually just 2 weeks late for other reasons. Before Tawan, I worked on customization of exactly the same module for Saudi mobile phone operator, that was carried out in Holland by team of engineers from Logica's Telco division from multiple countries. Got offer to switch my job contract from Prague to Riyadh and work for Logica there, but did not take it.

After Reuters ditched Logica as outsourcing provider, I took oportunity to work with the sales team as the bid manager, preparing the proposal for the 50mil CZK system integration project for Czech Export Bank. My job was simple - to write a winning project bid proposal document. Working with sales team, Logica management, and the customer representative I wrote a proposal document, that detailed how Logica will address the requirements set by the customer, detailed the references and expertise Logica will bring to customer on the project, assisted with project price and margin calculation. Logica was won the contract ahead of 3 other competitors.

Joined Logica to work on Reuters Quotes system (real time stock exchange data teminal). Working on transforming data stream in protocol proprietary to the each european stock exchange to format accepted by the Reuters mainframe (VAX VMS). Work was outsourced by Reuters, tasks assigned on request of data feed owner at the Reuters offices in Geneva, Rome, Paris, Frankfurt...Usually very rigid non-negotiable deadlines, given by the minute when the data feed (or change in the format) will be first made available by the stock exchange (e.g. opening of the new trading floor)

Worked on embedded system for industrial control systems (natural gas company, railway company, Prague subway), specializing on implementation of the custom and one-off communication protocols as required by the interface of given peripheral device (mostly serial protocols over RS232 i-face).
