Profile bio

About Stanley Mackrell

I was born, raised and initially educated in Northern Ireland. My main background has been (24 years) in aviation and airlines starting back in 1975, as a 'load controller' on a summer contract (hoping for a full-time contract from the end of the season) with Servisair Ltd, Belfast International Airport (Aldergrove), and came in a very close second. I moved to mainland England, having succeeded in securing another 'lead load controller' position with the then, Air UK/Air Anglia/BIA group, and during the fuel crisis of the early 80's moved sideways a few times, gaining what experience I could in bonded store (duty free), baggage, passenger/ground handling, duties officer, ticketing etc. I quickly realized as did my subsequent employer's that my specialist experience would be that of Airline Operations and built on, operational planning, crewing, navigation and flight planning.I chose to return to further education, (part of which was my own choice of work placement - London City Airport - in a multiple function role (due to previous exprience) and in doing so, gained 1. BTEC HND in Travel and Tourism Management, and 2. City and Guilds - Teaching certification (adult) - receiving - Adult/Mature 'Student of the year award {1992}], having succeeded in getting official (BTEC Level) exemption from the 'Passenger Transport (major) Core/Element' during year 2 of the course by producing two thesis's A. Passenger Transport Management and B. Airport Management - each of which were marked as a 'double distinction' .I returned to a full-time aviation career- the first of which was a (fixed-term) position as Airport Manager based in Cornwall, following this I moved to LHR (Heathrow) contracted to British Airways (Terminal 4 long-haul) as an Operations Manager ground handling, and subsequently moved nearer home taking up a further Operations Manager (Executive Aviation) role till 1999.I have since worked in a civilian role with Dorset Police since 2004.

Listed skills include Airports, Aviation, Operational Planning, Microsoft Office, and 22 others.
