Executive Director. ASPE is a nonprofit organization for professional plumbing engineers and anyone interested in the profession. As ED I was responsible for all aspects of the organization and reported to the Board of Directors. An overview of this position included: membership development and retention, membership satisfaction, publishing (books and magazine), marketing, public relations, policy development and implementation, personnel recruitment, development and job enrichment, meetings, major convention and Exhibition, board development, computers, technology, writing, research, sales of products and services, development and implementation of publications and products of interest to the profession. An Executive Director acts in the capacity of a CEO. Have wide range of knowledge and talents. Some previous organizations I have been with and or helped include: International City Management Association, National League of Cities, National Association of Counties, National Association of Enrolled Agents, partner in Barrueta and Associates - commercial real-estate firm in Washington DC and environs, American Public Works Association, and the Institute for Meeting and Conference Management. I have written a number of books covering: hotel negotiations, meeting logistics, a leasing guide for tenants, how to understand and write a hotel meeting contract, understanding commercial real estate leasing for the tenant, and numerous magazine articles for meeting planners and for commercial real estate lessors. I instituted a unique and successful program to educate and create productive professional commercial real estate salespersons and brokers. Many of my "students," especially those that remain in the profession remember fondly what and how they learned.
