I am passionate about cybersecurity and find value in sharing my devotion for data protection, access management, end user education, among other controls. However, when it comes down to cybersecurity, there’s nothing more exciting then discussing cyber risk and how to mitigate it over a pint of IPA. To be a successful risk manager, it’s important to eloquently display the purpose of aligning cyber and business risk to key stakeholders. Doing so can prevent the organization from suffering financial loss related to response time, brand damage, and lawsuits.I have a technical background stemming from years of working as a systems administrator responsible for managing servers, infrastructures, projects, and eventually people. As the threat landscape changed, so did my need to adapt my skills. I took it upon myself to learn cybersecurity starting from the basics of hardening servers and vulnerability management through building more sophisticated and mature programs revolving around risk management and frameworks. My diverse background allows me to understand technical jargon and communicate it to a business-oriented audience. Outside of work, I love traveling the world with my wife. I feel there is great value in immersing yourself in the cultures of other nations. A lot can be learned from your neighbors and that can translate into knowledge and wisdom. If I’m not traveling the world, I enjoy spending my free time with my family exploring San Francisco and the Bay Area with our Shibu. Even as a native, we always find something new to do.
