Richard (Rick) Stanley has been a leader in nonprofit finance and accounting for over 20 years. He prides himself on his ability to make financial reports understandable and accessible to staff and lay leadership alike. A diverse educational and experiential background gives him specific insight into the unique challenges facing nonprofits in the rapidly changing 21st century. His broad base of knowledge and skills give him the ability to meet those challenges. He recognizes that technological innovation, increasingly complex governmental regulation, and the constant pressure to innovate, to do more with less and to achieve targeted results without fail require that a leader have a deep understanding of all aspects of an organization. Now more than ever, he believes, nonprofit leadership means achieving the balance between ‘doing good’ and succeeding as a business. It means embracing change and meeting it with an entrepreneurial spirit to create an organization's future and ultimately to improve the lives of those he serves.He holds an active CPA license in the State of Maryland and Chartered Global Management Accountant certification. A graduate of the University of Maryland University College, he holds a Business Management degree, with emphasis in Accounting, minoring in Computer & Information Science.Rick is the grandchild of Eastern European immigrants and is the first in his family to obtain a college degree. As a result, he has a passion for learning and devotes a lot of his free time to reading about world history, philosophy, science, math, and computers. He also enjoys time spent bicycling, motorcycling, and hiking as well as working with his hands in his workshop.Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Rick has lived most of his life in Maryland and now resides in Columbia with his family and two dogs.His guiding principles are Honesty, Empathy and Curiosity.
