I am a self-directed, enthusiastic NCLB “Highly Qualified” Secondary Educator and Visual Artist with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree, as well as over fifteen years of hands-on teaching experience. I have a passion and commitment to student development and learning. I am skilled in designing challenging, enriching and innovative curriculum and lesson plans that address the diverse interests and holistic needs of students. I poses outstanding communication skills; present information in a variety of ways, emphasizing the relevance of outside materials and experiences which extend beyond the classroom.Being a versatile Educator has afforded me the opportunity to teach students from 6-12 with a particular focus on high school enrichment. I have served as a Social Studies Department co-chair where I was accountable for the development of the social studies department curriculum, developing the department budget, facilitating department meetings, and coordinating professional development seminars. In addition, I have served as an African American Studies, Freshmen Study Skills Instructor and ESL Long-Term Substitute.In addition, I am the Owner and Visual Artist behind SOL•SKETCHES™. I have over twenty years experience as a graphic designer and visual artist. My visual artistry is emotionally and spiritually inspired by my diverse musical appreciation, love for Hip-Hop culture and illumination through art and design. As an accomplished Visual Artist, my artwork is rendered in various mediums including pen & ink, acrylic, glass, acetate cells, digital | computer-generated and wearable works.
