Launched in August 2017, Los Angeles Cyber Lab (https://www.lacyberlab.org/) is a first of its kind public-private-partnership non-profit dedicated to promoting innovation, education, and information sharing between Los Angeles’ public and private sectors for the benefit of all our city’s businesses and residents. LA Cyber Lab is dedicated to sharing the latest cybersecurity threat data, alerts, and intelligence gathered by the City of Los Angeles and its partners. A Board of Advisors, led by Mayor Eric Garcetti and consisting of leadership from over 28 top Los Angeles businesses and government officials, develops policy and practices to help guide the LA Cyber Lab’s mission. ISSA-LA is the founding Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association, an international not-for-profit association of information security professionals and practitioners.During my nearly 9 years as ISSA-LA President, 1. We held 7 annual Information Security Summits designed not only for information security professionals but for all those with a stake in information security: IT professionals, Business Executives, Attorneys, Bankers, Insurance Professionals, Law Enforcement and Education.2. Aligned with the Summit, we built a Community Outreach Advisory Board, bringing attorneys, bankers, accountants, insurance professionals, law enforcement and other trusted advisors into the information security conversation. 3. With our banking colleagues, we developed the Financial Services Security Forum — a learning community of banking and law enforcement professionals collaborating and building the relationships so necessary to securing the financial system. 4. I’m particularly proud of how we made a special point to reach out to the under-served non-profit community, inviting them as our guests every year to the Summit. 5.
