Radiation Protection Manager for LBNL Phase VII Building 7 and 7C D&D project: 2019 to 2021RSO at EWOC: 2021 - Current

Provided technical support for MARSAME radiological surveys for the USACE Decommissioning of the MH-1A Nuclear Power Reactor and Sturgis Barge. On-site support from April to September 2018 consisted of coordinating MARSAME surveys of internal gridded areas of the barge, daily QC performance measurements of portable and laboratory survey instrumentation, periodic surveillances of sampling and scan data collection for survey packages, downloaded data files from Ludlum 2350-1 meters, and assembly of daily survey data packages for site Radiologial Safety Officer review. Off-site support consists of performing calculations on systematic, judgemental, and off-site laboratory data and generated survey reports for numerous survey packages. Contributed to the development of the Final Status Survey Report and 2017 Annual Environmental Assessment Report.Supported the USDA's BARC Radioactive Waste Remediation project as the Site Radiation Protection Supervisor and as the Mobile Laboratory Manager. The project involved the excavation of research waste debris consisting mostly of liquid scintillation solution wastes and Ra-226 sources from 50 pits followed by packaging and disposition of almost 23,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil. Responsibilities included management of the project bioassay program, supervision of four Radiological Control Technicians, and one Laboratory Technician. Supported Waste Management by analyzing soil samples and excavated sources by gamma-ray spectroscopy.

Radiological Control Manager supporting the demolition of Building 401 at the FUSRAP Niagara Fall Storage Site. Team Leader for radiological surveys U. S. Army facilities in the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission program in 9 states. Responsible for the conceptual design of a radon control system for the feasibility study for the removal of uranium processing waste in a temporary disposal facility. Radiological Control Manager and RSO for the DOE's Purdue University Fuel Pin Disposition project, which removed over 8,000 uranium fuel pins from a research laboratory and packaged them for disposal at a government disposal facility. Radiological Engineer supporting an inventory and assessment of over 800 high Curie Co-60 sources at an irradiator facility located in a mid-Atlantic state by operating high definition, radiation hardened underwater video cameras with a DVR and measuring radiation doses with an underwater probe housing.

Mobile Laboratory Manager at the Luckey FUSRAP site in northern Ohio (gamma spectroscopy of soil plus beryllium analysis of soil) and the USDA Beltsville Agricultural Research Center remediation project (gamma spectroscopy of excavated soil, water, and radioactive sources).

Provided technical management of engineers on a contract for nondestructive assay of radioactive waste materials at a Dept. of Energy site in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

· Served as a Senior Radiochemist supporting various projects with a focus on radiological and analytical data validation, radiological survey plan development, waste management operations, and various health physics areas. · Responsible for supporting the projects with applications of alpha and gamma spectrometry, liquid scintillation counting, and nuclear non- destructive and field analysis techniques. · Responsible for the evaluation qualification of radiological data from the ETTP Reindustrialization project for use in risk assessment analyses and evaluation of waste assay data for radiological waste shipments to disposal facilities. · Performed a key role in a project for the calculation of decision levels and minimum detectable activities for selected radionuclides, analytical methods, and laboratory facilities as part of a DOE site's internal dosimetry program.

the Savannah River Site, F-Area providing technical support to the Nuclear Measurements Assay group in the performance of non- destructive assay measurements (dose-to-curie) of radioactively contaminated wastes and process systems in F- and H-Areas. · Major projects included the assay of uranium fuel plates from a decommissioned research reactor and various process waste containers containing isotopes of plutonium and uranium.

· Responsible for the daily review and evaluation of reactor coolant chemistry data. · Instrumental in the coordination of primary coolant system performance reports and trends with the corporate Nuclear Fuels group, plant Systems Engineering, and Radiological Control sections. · Expertise in methods of forced oxidation cleanup chemistry of the primary coolant loops resulted in reduced dose levels by plant and contract personnel during the reactor refueling outage during the spring of 1992. · Coordination of the installation and setup of the DEC MicroVax based Chemistry Database Management software system for trending chemical and radiochemical parameters in plant systems. · Key roles in NRC required plant emergency drills as a staff member of the plant Technical Support Center, which advised the Site Emergency Director/Plant Manager on plant status. · Performed as a Qualified Reviewer of new and revised plant instructions and also performed plant safety screening reviews based on the plant Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR).

· Performed various technical support roles for nuclear power plant laboratories in areas of analytical/radiochemistry methodology and analysis. · Managed special nuclear power plant tests such as the EPRI sponsored Steam Generator Crossover Pipe Scanning and Radiation Control Measurements Project at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant. · Responsible to implementation of TVA Nuclear Power standard radiochemical procedures for various plant radiochemical laboratories. · Major role in the development and implementation of laboratory quality assurance program. Duties included inter-laboratory cross-check sample preparation development, cross-check sample distribution, data evaluation and result reporting.
