Mr. Stan VanderWerf is an El Paso County, Colorado Commissioner, and has now declared his candidacy for Colorado State Senate District 12. As an elected official, Stan works on numerous community initiatives to make our County and State a better place for its citizens. Achievements include efforts in affordable housing, improved highways and infrastructure, increased park services, approved and balanced County budgets, increased public safety, better disaster preparedness, accelerated economic development, increased job opportunities, better transparency, and efforts to honor our veterans. Stan serves on the Pikes Peak Workforce Center Board, the State Board of Health, Parks Board, Airport Advisory Commission, and many more. He is also President of the Pikes Peak Firearms Coalition and CEO of the Freedom Center of the Rockies. Mr. VanderWerf has founded several companies including CEM-Tek, USA, a 3-D printing company, Advanced Capitol, a consulting firm, and UAS Colorado, a business league for Colorado's unmanned aircraft industry. Stan has held a wide variety of program director positions in the space, aircraft, electronics, and avionics industries. As a former senior US Air Force officer, he ran the Air Force’s electronic warfare and avionics programs from 2008 to 2011, a portfolio of 750 systems, over a million products in the field, a budget in excess of $1 billion a year, and 380 employees. Products included sensors, jammers, GPS guidance systems, navigation/display boxes, and numerous classified programs. Stan was formerly the Chief of Strategic Analysis for NORAD-NORTHCOM, program director for the AF’s C-130E/H programs, and Executive Officer to Special Operations Command’s Acquisition Executive. Stan is an avid mountain climber, skier, and private pilot with instrument and commercial ratings.
