Not to impose anything, but rather to give the fans a platform through which they could channel their passion and ideas.Motivated and guided by my background in social media and community management coupled with our vision on communication and advertising at Friendship, we quickly took up a leadership role in this campaignFrom my experience with Pokémon Go which also involved channeling the power of a large and dedicated community, I knew that a community of strangers borne from a common passion or frustration would need a central team that could leverage their ideas but also offer guidance about the general direction of the campaign. The campaign team quickly grew to 25 people and currently consists of digital marketeers, designers, video makers and copywriters from all over the world who were brought together by their mutual passion for one of the best sci-fi shows ever made.Our biggest achievements is reaching over 2,5 million people through Twitter and Facebook in less than 3 weeks, generating significant press value for the show and steering the narrative of the show.My contribution includes the petition which garnered over 135.000 signatures in less than two weeks (https://www.change.org/p/amazon-or-netflix-please-buy-the-rights-to-the-expanse-savetheexpanse) and coordinating and managing the Twitter and Facebook channels. The amount of information and news generated by an event of this size is staggering and impossible for all journalists to process. This is where the Live Team comes in.The Live Team is special group of volunteers who are passionate about media and have a knack for crafting digital content. Their task is to scour the different areas and extract relevant information from startups, visitors and investors which is then processed into articles, videos and audio interviews. With the 2014 edition quadrupling in size, the Live Team became a lot bigger as well. Where the 2013 team only consisted of one team of 20 people, the 2014 team counted ten times that size. Following this exponential growth the position of Live Team Leader was created to get some structure into this big group. I was picked as Team Leader because of my volunteer work as Live Team member at the London and Dublin Web Summit in 2013. The job of my colleagues and me was to delegate and advise our team members: getting them into contact with the right people, giving feedbackon their work and just generally checking if everything was all right.Being a team leader has improved my managing skills tremendously. Not only in terms of managing all different types of people, but also in terms of being able and willing to distribute tasks and trusting my team with them.Being at the Summit has given me some very valuable insights in the startup industry.
