I currently serve the National Society of Black Engineers, fulfilling the role of Engineering Diversity Chair falling under Programs Zone. The Engineering Diversity Program represents an evolution from the former "Business Diversity" initiative, broadening its scope from entrepreneurship to diverse career pathways and industry engagement tailored for NSBE members. These events have been hosted by be at the annual Region VI Fall Regional Conference and will be hosted again in March at the 50th Annual Converntion. The program also delves into interdisciplinary topics like engineering’s intersection with law, medicine, public policy, and education, ensuring comprehensive support for members pursuing diverse aspirations.

All Summer Bridge students will be supported by a peer mxntor who works with them from the start of the 5-week program to the end of their first year. The basis of this program is to allow low-income minority students to get a headstart on campus. Summer bridge provides them with many resources to assist them in getting through their first year of university. Peer Mentors-Play a crucial role in supporting first-year transitions to UC San Diego-Act as a key resource for campus insights and information-Encourage students to navigate a wide range of academic, social, and personal challenges-Host weekly two cohort meetings during the summer program (3 evenings per week)-Meet individually with each mentee 3-4 times per academic quarter throughout their first yearAs an OASIS Summer Bridge Mentee, I experienced firsthand the invaluable support and community that helped me transition into university life at UCSD. Recognizing the impact this program had on my journey, I felt compelled to give back by becoming a mentor. As a Summer Bridge Peer Mentor, I aimed to empower and guide new students, helping them feel supported and confident as they begin their own journeys, just as I was supported in mine.

Some of my key responsibilities included the following: User Research: Conduct user research activities to understand the target audience, their preferences, behaviors, and needs. This involved methods such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and observation.User Personas: I created user personas based on my research findings. The personas represented the different types of users who will visit the website and help inform design decisions based on their characteristics, goals, and motivations.User Journey Mapping: Develop user journey maps that outline the steps users take when interacting with the website, from discovering it to completing specific tasks. This helps identify pain points, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance the user experience and overall help the designers. Usability Testing: This entailed planning and conduct usability (A/B) testing sessions to evaluate the website's interface, functionality, and overall user experience and to gain feedback from participants and analyze the results to identify areas that need improvement.These tests, personas, studies, etc were all completed through the use of Figma and the Google Applications (Sheets, Forms, Docs).
