About Andrew Starr
Professor Andrew Starr is a former chair of Maintenance Systems at Cranfield University. After researching at doctoral and post-doctoral level at the University of Manchester, his first academic appointment was at Huddersfield in 1994. In 1997 he moved to the University of Manchester, before moving to Hertfordshire in 2007 as the head of the School of Aerospace, Automotive and Design Engineering and then Director of the Centre for Sustainable Communities. He was Director of Education for the Cranfield School of Aerospace, Transportation and Manufacturing 2015-2019.Andrew led the Through Life Engineering Services Institute, then the Centre for Life-Cycle Engineering and Management, a major postgraduate and research centre of excellence in maintenance and through life support, for 11 years. Andrew has retired.Specialties: condition monitoring, asset management and through life support, in aerospace, defence, transport and manufacturing.
