I was a clerical assistant for a selected group of educational advisors that provided courses for teachers and teaching assistants. Every year the clerical assists advisors would be rotated to provide you with a vast knowledge within all curriculum areas.Due to my interest in IT I bonded extremely well with the group of Primary and Secondary School IT advisors. I was very efficient with the work presented to me whether it was building course packs, arranging and booking venues for courses, clearing loaned mobile devices, minuting meetings, contacting companies that specialise in educational learning (SMART, Prometheus, LEGO, Steljes, Dell to name a few) to join a yearly IT expedition we hosted. The enthusiasm I displayed then provided me with the permanent role as a IT clerical assistant.Shropshire Council had began creating a online portal for all schools called the Shropshire Learning Gateway. The Shropshire Learning Gateway was built using Microsoft SharePoint 2003. Due to the clerical position I was in; I was able to begin learning SharePoint as part of my job role. Over the years I gained SharePoint expertise with help from the advisors and could create complex sites using various webparts. My knowledge then provided me the opportunity to discuss SharePoint designing ideas with Shropshire Councils School IT Support to create a user friendly portal.After years of building my SharePoint knowledge, assisting School IT Support and assisting teachers I looked to further my career within IT. I was promoted within the transport sector to a Special Educational Needs Transport Assistant. This role brought additional responsibilities as I was now arranging private transport for pupils to specialist schools and respite homes across Shropshire.Arranging transport was often booked in advance (termly) however there was continuous amendments to travelling arrangements. During my apprenticeship I was part of a team that monitored and entitled pupils free passenger transport to school. This was a admistration assistant role which included checking pupil eligibility for termly or temporary transport to students from Primary school through to Post-16.
