Bootstrapped on-demand food delivery company from scratch in Colombo, Sri Lanka.Restaurant Systems. Last-mile food logistics, efficiency and waste reduction.- Grew to be country's leading food delivery company on customer satisfaction & technology within 1 year, capturing majority of online and app sales in made-to-order restaurants. - Built an in-house, custom logistics & delivery management platform from scratch (cloud-based) which allowed Foodie to be the only Sri Lankan company with reliable <40min delivery times from point of order. - Spent ZERO marketing/advertising and grew to a high LTV user base of 80,000 in target niche (expats and high income Sri Lankans) purely on word of mouth. - Built close partnerships with restaurants, vendors and other associates in a laggard market that was, at the time, resistive to technology and new processes.- Built and managed operations teams for Rider captaining, management, payroll, training etc. - Handled all operational issues & solved problems in a tough market with little to no resources, investment capital or leveraging and generally very low small-business support. - Created profitability at small scale by allowing riders to do multiple orders at once while still guaranteeing on-time deliveries. - Automated all processes to run highly lean.- Survived a myriad of problems both small and large in 4 years of bootstrapping (that felt like 14).
