Primarily focused on architecting custom Business Intelligence dashboards for internal and external organizations. These BI dashboards are based on QlikView reports and incorporate feature extensions which I developed that are not normally found in typical BI visualizations. The resulting reports provide dynamic BI analysis with near-realtime granularity.In addition to developing BI dashboards, I'm involved in development of innovative IVR applications for a diverse group of clients. I was a major contributor to a global effort to integrate all of Schneider Electric’s system-monitoring platforms through a common web service interface. This interface is based on a similar one that I successfully designed and implemented for APC’s StruxureWare Central platform. My interface made it possible for internal and 3rd-party applications, such as IBM Tivoli, Microsoft System Center/Operations Manager and HP OpenView, to easily access device data aggregated by StruxureWare Central. These successful 3rd-party integrations were facilitated by a comprehensive Software Development Kit (SDK) that I produced in conjunction with the web service.Developed a graphical application to facilitate the conversion of SNMP MIBs and Modbus register maps into the XML schema-based rule sets employed by StruxureWare Central platform for obtaining data from network-enabled 3rd-party devices. I take particular pride in the dynamic graphical logic editors that made it easy to construct or modify complex logical expressions within the rule sets.Assisted in developing code to integrate a Blackberry mobile device and StruxureWare Central server using my web service interfaces.

Successfully completed development of a datacenter inventory management (client-server) application that had been started by a pair of consultants but left incomplete due to time constraints and technical issues. The final product resulted in a very delighted customer.Designed and implemented a proof-of-concept integration between APC’s InfraStruXure platform and IBM’s Tivoli framework, in just a few short weeks, and then demonstrated the result at an IBM Pulse trade show.Participated in development of several versions of APC’s InfraStruXure platform, a client-server-based precursor to the StruxureWare Central product. Contributions to this effort included work on device group permissions, graphical alarm scheduling, user audit trail and change management modules. The change management feature included supporting a Symbol PowerPC mobile device via web services. Designed, helped develop, and acted as technical team leader for APC’s PowerStruXure product; an early browser-based datacenter monitoring platform with a rack-centric user interface.Assisted in designing and developing a UPS/Battery power monitoring application that was adopted by Microsoft and shipped as a standard component of Windows 2000. Received a commendation from Microsoft for my contribution to this project.I was the first to incorporate online registration capability into an APC consumer product. This included developing the server-side functionality to receive and process the registration data.Participated in developing both client and server code for APC’s Assistant Online, the company’s first web-enabled application that could transmit a customer’s device data back to APC for instant analysis and provide both proactive and corrective diagnostic information. Redesigned APC’s flagship PowerChute UPS monitoring product so that it would present a consistent user experience regardless of the language/locale, monitor size, resolution, or operating system that it was running on.

As one of Vista’s software consultants, I was contracted to American Power Conversion Corp. At the end of my third 6-month contract, American Power Conversion offered me a permanent position. My accomplishments are included above.

As a member of a 3-person development team, I worked on developing the next generation of Cadre’s flagship CASE tool, TeamWork; a production-quality code generator and object repository with a graphical user interface.

As part of a 2-person development team, I was responsible for maintaining and enhancing Computer Associate’s Visual 20/20 spreadsheet product.Enhancements included a user-friendly database import/export utility for accessing various 3rd-party databases (Sybase, Oracle, Powerhouse, Informix, etc…) and incorporating several formatters for printable output (PCL, PostScript).

As a member of Financial Services Engineering, I managed a small team in the design and development of the DECtrade Desktop, a framework for integrating securities trading applications.Provided training to sales personnel and 3rd-party developers for DECtrade Desktop, including presenting a session at DECWorld. As a member of Field Service Engineering, I helped develop the user interface and communication firmware for Digital’s Remote Services Console, a computer console multiplexer that allowed Digital service technicians to remotely dial into and diagnose system problems.Helped maintain and enhance the software for Digital’s customer support call tracking system.

As a member of Dial Product Development, I designed the hardware and most of the firmware for Motorola’s first 2400bps modem for the consumer PC market. This development effort included visiting customers to gather feedback on the usability of the product and coordinating the efforts of contractors also working on the product.As part of Sustaining Engineering, I designed a suite of self-tests for Codex’s first “all software” modem and responded to customer RFQs.

Designed and developed a group of integrated, micro-computer based applications for tracking and improving the efficiency, productivity and accountability of military food service operations. Applications included: headcount forecasting, purchase tracking, inventory forecasting, inventory control, and dynamic menu preparation as well as many other ancillary applications.Provided on-site installation and training as well as post-installation statistics gathering.Provided technical guidance to a small team of developers.Received a commendation from the Department of the Army.
