This involved identifying and resolving inconsistencies in safety requirements (both technical and operational), mapping requirements as mitigations for identified hazards, and reviewing system Verification and Validation reports, while continually maintaining and updating the project Hazard Logs.This summer was extremely pivotal in developing my understanding of safety engineering and risk assessment, which is an incredibly important part of any engineering project. Unfortunately, in many cases this field of engineering is only glossed over in a regular engineering education. In many ways, safety engineering is a mindset, and I was lucky enough to have been influenced by this type of mindset early on, and is something I take into consideration in any engineering project.Ever since this summer, I have been involved with urban rail transit engineering; whether through learning about my father's initiatives in this field, or through studying systems and safety engineering topics to prepare for a potential career in this field, I have maintained a working knowledge of these topics.
