Microsoft ArchitectMsi Systems Integrators 2007 - 2007San Antonio, Texas, UsRod and I left CSSS.NET at the same time to pursue a career at MSI to build their Microsoft Practice. I had every hope to help build a practice, close sales and deliver solutions - but the opportunities were few and far between and I became restless sitting in my cubicle. Disenchanted with IT, I quit working at MSI to help J Development Company (my wife being co-owner) with various accounting tasks and project management. -
Dba/ContractorIntegriguard 2003 - 2007Omaha, Ne, UsWhen my time was up at Customer Service Profiles, I turned to consulting work for the first time. CSSS.NET is a government-focused consulting firm in Omaha, and though most of the contractors at the time were placed at Offutt Air force Base, my long-term staff-augmentation engagement was at IntegriGuard - a government sub-contractor focusing on benefit integrity for CMS. I architected and maintained five line of business applications during my tenure. Each of these systems focused on tracking a specific unit of work through the processes and procedures prescribed and provided management with oversight through various reports. Every system was developed in VB.NET and SQL Server. Rod joined me at IntegriGuard once the workload was more than one person could handle. -
It DirectorCustomer Service Profiles 2000 - 2003Omaha, Ne, UsI really enjoyed my time at National Research, but grew very tired of the commute between Omaha and Lincoln everyday. I decided to start looking for a similar opportunity closer to home. I found this at Customer Service Profiles, a market research firm focusing on mystery shopping for banks. Here I took more of a leadership role and took the knowledge I gained at NRC and re-architected the FoxPro line of business application to SQL Server/VB. In order to keep up with the day-to-day tasks and deliver the new system on-time, I hired Rod Smith, a friend of mine that was in sales at the time and looking for a change. Over the next two years we were able to bring the new system online with many efficiencies through improvements in processes as well as the software itself. -
Database AdministratorNational Research Corporation 1996 - 2000Lincoln, Ne, UsWhile attending college at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, I started working for National Research Corporation (NRC) in the Quality Assurance department. One evening while validating the data on client reports, the print job for questionnaires for one of the largest clients failed. I was able to help the programmer out and it was then that NRC discovered I could program. From that point, I started maintaining database applications in FoxPro. I rose through the rank of junior programmer quicker than anyone previous. Some time later a consulting group was brought in to convert the FoxPro applications into a single enterprise-level SQL Server/VB system. During this conversion, I was promoted to SQL Server DBA.
