Hands-on 20+ years’ experience in designing customised VSAT bandwidth profiles for superyachts and commercial vessels, delivering onboard internet solutions and effective always-on support. As a former rotational yacht engineer, I’ve been at the sharp end of the stick aboard 50+m yachts in the Mediterranean, Pacific and Caribbean, where communications with the rest of the world is imperative and around the clock. One of my key responsibilities was ensuring we stayed connected to the outside world wherever we were, this saw me responsible for systems including: •VSAT (Including installation, maintenance and repairing satellite communication equipment onboard)•Cellular (Including installation, maintenance and repairing of routers onboard)•Wi-Fi (Including the installation and maintenance of equipment and onboard diagnostics to provide a consistent connection) •LAN (Including monitoring and implementing performance standards, identifying bottle necks on the network)•Other IT/AV Systems (Day-to-day maintenance of all electronic, computer and AV equipment to ensure its efficient operation)My other responsibilities included maintaining engine propulsion and generator systems, the maintenance and servicing auxiliary deck equipment and the preparation of spares required onboard.
