Dr. Stavroula Angoura, Ph.D. is an attorney-at-law specialized in maritime law and arbitration. She studied law at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and subsequently pursued her postgraduate studies at Queen Mary University of London (LL.M.). She conducted her doctoral thesis conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Hess at the University of Luxembourg. Her monograph is entitled 'The impartiality and independence of arbitrators in international commercial arbitration' published by Nomos Verlag. She had been working for five years as a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law and as a member of the International Max Planck Research School on Successful Dispute Resolution. Before joining the Max Planck Institute, she worked for three years as a Research Assistant at the International Hellenic University in Thessaloniki. She was also a Visiting Researcher at the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS) in Cologne and at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in London. She has also been trained in a leading international arbitration law firm in London. For her research, she was awarded a scholarship from Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law. Her main research interests include international commercial and investment arbitration, conflict of laws, European procedural law, digital technologies and legal methodology. She has authored a number of articles and participated as a speaker in several national and international conferences especially in the field of international arbitration.
