Growing up in rural Eastern North Carolina was such a blessing! I grew up surrounded by loving family and friends, church members, neighbors, etc. Many of those people listed were involved in agriculture, meaning that I was exposed to the industry at a very young age. I remember spending countless hours on a tractor with my grandaddy, lots of time in the kitchen with memaw, and so many memories were made in the garden with my parents and brothers. I've wanted to do many things in life; be a NASCAR driver, a school teacher, the next big country music star. It wasn't until high school when I joined the FFA that I knew for sure I wanted to be involved in the agriculture industry. Competing in career development events and holding office positions within the FFA chapter made me realize that my passion for agriculture is something that I cannot run from. I started an internship my senior year of high school with North Carolina State University Crop Science where I was able to learn so much about agriculture through hands on experiences in the field, lab, and shop. After high school, I attended the University of Mount Olive where I obtained a Bachelor of Science majoring in Agricultural Production Systems. The experiences and knowledge I gained throughout my college career helped me develop a huge network of industry professionals who led me to some awesome opportunities. Six months after I graduated from the University of Mount Olive, my internship with North Carolina State University ended. Soon after, I began working at Flatlands Insurance Group where I serve as an account manager in the crop division. In this position, I am allowed to continue to advocate for agriculture and our local growers through maintaining relationships, providing excellent customer service, and educating people on the importance of our industry. No matter the company, or the job title, I will always use my voice to advocate for those that keep us fed, clothed, and housed.
