I give robust, commercial, VAT advice to businesses and charities in South West England, enabling them to manage VAT risk.I have worked both sides of the fence, having started my VAT career in 1988 as a VAT Inspector with what was then Customs & Excise. I left, to join a Big 4 Accountancy firm, in 1997. I much prefer my current role, proactively working with businesses and charities as a trusted adviser on VAT; to being a VAT inspector, checking that businesses had paid the “right amount of tax.”A key difference is that as an adviser I can build strong and lasting relationships with my clients. This allows me to understand a clients’ business sector, individual circumstances and personal objectives well enough to produce a tailored solution robust enough to deal with what is often (and is increasingly) a hostile tax environment.I work with a mix of my own clients and our client base of owner-managed businesses; charities; and individuals; across Wiltshire and Somerset.
