About Stephen Stead

I work in two very different fields; technical training and heritage data. They work together to give rich examples and in depth technical background to each other.Initially the technical training I delivered was in the IT storage technology sector but is now focussed on Big Data analytics/Data Science and Cloud technologies.I deliver courses on the concepts and tools that support Data Analysis, Data Science and Big Data and Cloud services as well as a range of Dell/EMC and Pivotal storage technologies and software. In the Heritage sector I have been working on data analysis and design for over 30 years and have a number of designs in common use. These include the Integrated Archaeological DataBase (IADB), The Record of Scheduled Monuments (RSM), the exeGesIS HBSMR (Historic Buildings, Sites and Monuments Record), the British and Irish Archaeological Bibliography (BIAB) and the CIDOC International Core Data Standard for Archaeological and Architectural Heritage.Since 2000 I have worked on the development of the CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model (CRM), being part of the team that guided it through to becoming ISO21127. I am also active in the FRBR/LRM harmonisation process. In a merger of these two lives I teach the use of the CIDOC CRM to Heritage sector professionals and have designed, prepared and delivered the CIDOC TTT and Summer School study programmes.Specialties: CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model (CRM) (ISO 21127);Heritage data structures;Data Science and Big Data analyticsCloud design approaches;Dell/EMC Watch4Net and ViPR SRM Suite;Dell/EMC Storage Arrays;ORCID 0000-0002-7324-5186
