I started teaching VEXIQ Robotics to our elementary students in 2014 as part of our co-curricular Enrichment Program. In 2016, I founded our Competitive VEXIQ Program for Elementary and Middle School students. Since 2017, one or more of my teams has earned opportunity to compete at the VEXIQ Robotics World Championships! I have built a strong competitive Robotics Program and since 2020 have brought Robotics into our Elementary Curriculum for 4K-5th grade using lessons that I have created as well as PLTW curriculum. I am passionate about robotics and love to see the students learn and appreciate the design process more deeply as they compete throughout the season. Also since 2017 most of our 39 teams have earned the opportunity to compete at the VEXIQ Robotics State Championship. I am very proud of the program that I have developed and grateful for all of the students and families being able to experience competitive robotics.

I teach elementary students Computer Science, robotics, STEM stations including practice and reinforcement of the Engineering Design Process to help students develop creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaborative skills. I am a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Classroom and Lead Teacher Certified Instructor and Co-Teacher who supports the classroom teachers. I have been on the PLTW Advisory Board and the ZFAB Committee (integrating Fine Arts with STEM for STEAM) since 2017. I also have presented Robotics at the annual TechSaavy Conference for Middle School Girls. In addition, I chair VEXIQ Tournaments and am on the planning team for our annual SMCS STEM Saturday. As part of our Co-curricular STEM Club and PLTW I have lead the efforts for our successful STEM Sponsorship Initiative since 2018. Part of this initiative is to build partnerships for community engagement with local engineers. Lastly, I work with corporations to create internship opportunities for our SMCS STEM students.
