Call it what you want. Bucking the system, taking the road less traveled, defying conventional wisdom! Maybe you are standing at that crossroads where I found myself in 2011. Having followed my family's footsteps into a law practice and politics, for over a decade I fit squarely in the same box most anyone could have predicted I’d be in. But I was beginning to feel worn thin. At 37 years old, I started to realize that the daily grind of corporate life that was great for so many, just wasn’t for me. Determined to break out of the grind, I bought myself a BMW GS Adventure and headed out alone, across the country. It didn’t take long for me to decide to never look back. I met some incredible people throughout the US and Canada, and most importantly my future wife, Roos. Roos took me to her home in South Africa, a magical place at the tip of the great African continent where the Atlantic and Indian oceans collide. We soon married in the winelands of Roos’ family farm, and set out in our Land Rover Defender for our honeymoon. For weeks we traveled through Namibia, Botswana and into the famed Kruger National Park of South Africa. There was no freedom I’d ever felt like cooking over an open flame in the wilds of Africa and sleeping on the roof of my Land Rover Defender.The African Overland Experience moved my spirit and it was there under the Southern Cross, that I figured out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I wanted to bring a sense of culture, adventure, and freedom into the lives of others.I have spent the last year developing a business and a product that can forever change how you spend time with family and friends. The KUDU Safari Braai and Classic Overland are made for people who believe they work too hard not to enjoy themselves during their coveted time away from work. I was also responsible for directing specific corporate management functions regarding legislative affairs.I was involved in Legislative and Government matters both as an elected official and as a practicing attorney. At the age of 27, I was one of the youngest city councilmen ever elected in Macon, Georgia. Whilst there, I served on the Macon Water Authority and assisted in the development of new industries throughout middle Georgia.
