In the process we reinvented a declining basketball business and challenged the industry assumptions on what and how basketball product was made.

My first 'tour' as they say living in Asia. I think of it as gaining my MBA and PhD in shoe making and allowing me to understand the true value of global partnership and diversity. I was instrumental in creating and delivering game changing basketball product by being close to where the product was made. International and language barriers were valuable learning curves. Kobe Bryant was our muse, even though he was not a Nike Athlete...yet. Being a key part of the Kobe tiger team enabled me to move quickly and push the boundaries of what was possible. The work here defined the industry and set the stage for the Kobe dynasty to unleash.

I learned how to make all kinds of product, from kids to boxing, dress shoes to walking shoes, low price point to high. I picked up the new language of shoe making, team dynamics, and lean processes.

This was my foot in the door, at a shoe company. I had the opportunity to learn everything there was about Nike by fielding all inbound Nike Direct land line phone calls. You called the 1-800 number and you likely got me. I provided solutions to consumer inquiries around product launches, new product technologies, Nike policies, and our infamous labor practices. What I didn't know was that I was afforded an opportunity to learn the true value of Nike’s maxims thru one of my most humbling career experiences to date.
