Manage and steer large critical projects, including:Complete Oracle setup in two new datacenters in India.Moving vital customer facing production database from datacenter in Luxembourg to datacenter in Denmark with minimal downtime (20TB production database moved with only 18 min downtime).Performance monitoring and reporting problematic code including tuning hints.Emergency troubleshooting / tuning using, for example the wait interface and trace 10046.Install / Configure / Patch / upgrade databases.Capacity management.Backup and cloning using RMAN.Administer the Netezza applianceAs team-manager:During my time in Mach I changed the team from an unstructured team responsible for 50 databases of a total size of less than 5TB to a well structured and respected team responsible for 150 databases of a total size of 100+TB. This even though the size of the team has only increased from 4 to 5 persons (myself included).Handling the cultural aspects of running a team spread around the globe. Plan the daily work.Coach and guide the team.Responsible for performance reviews and HR aspectsDefine work procedures.Bridge the gap between higher management and technical staff.“Fence” the team from non-technical interruptions making them able to work 100% with the technical assignments.Ensure deadlines are met.Ensure all documentation is up-to-date.Ensure compliance with Oracle licensing rules. This included negotiation with Oracle for gaining a worldwide ULA (Unlimited license agreement).Ensure compliance with ISAE 3402 (new version of SAS 70) and ISO9001.

Long-term consultant assignment at ADTranz on a project delivering an automatic train control system for the Danish State Railways (DSB). Was the project manager and also handled the technical aspects, such as analyze / design and development.

1989-1995: Development departmentPorting of AT&T UNIX utilities to DDE’s hardware platformDevelopment of a monitoring system including API definitions together with the UNIX kernel team.Responsible for the “UNIX kernel and utilities” installation procedure.Customer onsite tuning sessions.1995-1996: “The software house”Responsible for the test specification of a solution for the The Defence Command of Denmark. Design and development of a reporting system linking Oracle and UNIX.Implementation of a centralized system for handling internal IT.

Development and maintenance of a finance / storage system.Porting the mentioned system between different platforms.

Development and maintenance of an advertisement / newspaper system. Installation / configuration of the above system for the largest newspaper on the Faroe Islands.

Programming and implementation of Monitoring/ Process optimization/ Data logging solutions for the meat-and-bone meal / fish meal industry. This included contacts to all levels for involved companies from operator to management.Technical sales assistant for the mentioned system, representing on exhibitions and doing seminars in Iceland, USA, and Germany.
