Contracted to Amec on a Blue Water FSPO as a technician to assist pipeline cuts for new pipework installation and also remove scrap pipwork. This ranged from 2 inch to 32 inch.

I was contracted on the Cleeton gas platform in the North Sea. My main role was assisting the operations team as a bolting technician during its shut down period. The main scope of work that I was involved in is Breaking containment and Joint integrity using manual and hydraulic methods. The other main role that I am involved in is to also assist with nitrogen purging and leak detection.

My main Role at IKM Testing was a bolting technician. One of main projects has was the Forties Alpha Satellite Platform construction. As a bolting technician I carried out mechanical and hydraulic torque tightening and tensioning of pipeline joints to the customer’s specifications, ranging from 1 inch to 24 inch fixed pipeline. I used P&ID’s and isometric drawings for the location and identification of work to be completed. I carried out all work within a safe manner and in line with site procedure and within the permits to work. On completion of work I would ensure that all joints were tagged and certified as completed joints. In addition, I also carried out further services when required; these included hot oil flushing and camera inspection of the platforms, gas turbine lube oil system using visual and microscope analysis; drying operations to fixed pipeline after completion of hydro testing and chemical cleaning using dew point meters to ensure that the all moisture had been removed. At the end of this project I assisted in nitrogen leak testing where I carried out preparations and isolations for test packs and leak detection using helium detection probes and running nitrogen pumps. Other responsibilities have included maintenance of tools and equipment including hydraulic pumps, calibration of helium detectors, and acted as a liaison with customers for inspections and completion of all work certification.
