Economic Development Project Officer
Supporting the successful delivery of the economic development strategy through a variety of projects as well as ensuring that we are utilising all communication mediums effectively and communicating clearly to our target audience. The role of Project Officer in Economic Development is an incredibly diverse project management role. The role requires both managing and supporting projects across all the different strands of Economic development which are; Business Support, Inward Investment & Town Centre Development. Aspects of the projects which I undertake include Marketing, Procurement, Finance and general administration. In Town Centre Development, we launched the first phase of Fountain Island outdoor trading/al fresco dining in July 2020. The project supported three businesses with new outdoor trading space and helped to activate this key and prominent location in the town centre. This is a project I managed while actively working with numerous other departmental services to ensure its success. In June 2022 we launched Phase 2 of the project which would support not only outdoor dining but also more cultural and community activities/events. This supports the Councils “Culture Connects Strategy” which aims to bring together local creative industries, businesses, grassroots organisations, communities and young people and to promote Enfield’s identity as a bright and creative space.I also work with our Culture team and we recently held Enfield’s first Creative Careers Fair where we had creative businesses from across Enfield come and showcase their business and deliver insightful and engaging workshops for students aged 14 - 19.
Covid-19 Business Support Officer
Having successfully worked on the handling of the previous Discretionary Grant scheme during the Covid-19 Pandemic, I was seconded to the role of Lead Assessor for the new Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) scheme. This role included reviewing and checking applications made by fellow assessors to ensure the applicants met all eligibility criteria.I assisted in creating the questions used in the ARG application form to ensure they captured all appropriate data.I assisted in creating the Enfield Council Policy Document for the ARG scheme and determining the eligibility criteria.I conducted extensive benchmarking on boroughs both within London and across the UK on ARG. I took lead and trained all members of the Business Response Team on how to use Civica, the digital software used to process a grant application.I ensured all written content on the Enfield Council website was up to date with the correct information on all financial grants available as well as wider business support that we could signpost local businesses towards.
Commercial Marketing Apprentice
My core responsibility was to help promote existing projects and create new opportunities of income generation, for our trade services, through effective marketing campaigns to both our internal and external customers. This included liaising with different Officers and Heads of Service to ensure we were delivering the key messages of the service effectively. On all marketing campaigns I worked on, an important element was evaluating and conducting reports of areas that worked well during the campaigns. We determined success of the campaign through many areas, from income generated to traffic directed to the website. I also believe the work of successfully delivering a marketing campaign or project does not stop at the point of its launch. In my opinion it is critical to then assess, measure, review and learn, to help us further improve, even on our successes. I have personally applied this approach by obtaining and interpreting Google Analytics data and producing regular monthly reports to measure both level of traffic to websites and generated income. When it comes to communication, both written and visual content are critical to engage with a target audience. When creating content, my aim is always to firstly capture their attention visually, through graphics/images that stand out, together with a headline message that makes the reader want to read on. I used the online graphic design tool, Canva. I have also used this approach when I have been asked to help with creating business presentations which were presented both face-to-face and remotely on Microsoft Teams.Set up and monitor Eventbrite pages to support a variety of Council-led events such as annual Women into Leadership conferences. During this role, I completed a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Digital Marketing with a grade Pass.

Setting up of initial company pages and accounts to reflect and reinforce a company’s brand, through eye catching cover photos and relevant “About Us” descriptions. This would range from a variety of industries including Vehicle Leasing, Signage, Catering, Restaurants and a London Golf Club.Produce creative branded visual content including photos & video editing, to support written copy, using various creative software.
