I am an actor and director. I design sets, soundscapes and video installations for theatre pieces. I have regular requests for graphic design work and do some animation when I have time to burn. Mainly. I make theatre. I think it's important to work on every aspect of the theatre to understand each role as such. I try to delve into the work of everyone on my team because odds are I've done your job before and have some pointers or maybe I want to learn from what you do. I like to work on different aspects of theatre. Everyone that is part of a production has an important role to play. This role should be important, just as the designer or the actor. For example I keep a steady job in the night gang of the National theatre where we tear down and build sets for the Main stage. Because I learn alot there. This job has probably taught me more about set design than my whole BFA degree from acting school. As a director that likes to design his own sets the National is quite a treasure chest of discoveries when it comed to troubleshooting set ideas. And I design lighting from time to time. This has taught me to respect the role of the lighting designer as both craftsman and an artist, for it can be an immensely technically anal job while at the same time you are required to be an artist. All jobs in the theatre demand respect. All jobs in the theatre are important.
