I started my career in finance in 2003. Early on I realised I could not be all things to all people. I realised that to best serve myself and my clients I needed to specialise. If I was going to provide advice, it wasn’t going to be broad and generic and suitable to the masses. That type of advice certainly has its place but isn’t for me. I wanted to have extensive in-depth knowledge that would be a huge benefit to only a few; to be the expert in the field. Over the years I became more and more niche and in 2013 I began specialising in medical consultants. Although busy and complex and at times quite challenging, I genuinely enjoy the work I do. I gain great pleasure from being able to help people who not only make such a difference to the lives of others, but who have made many sacrifices on their journey from medical student to consultant. As cliché as it sounds, I find it rewarding being able to make these peoples’ lives that little bit better. Outside of work I love coming home to my family, particularly the enthusiasm and energy of my young daughter (born early 2016). She is a constant source of fun and laughter and is non-stop. I also love to exercise. I enjoy the challenge of endurance events; be it marathons, IronMan triathlons, or long distance cycling. I generally participate in at least one organised event each year. I am a Director at Tardis Advice, an independent financial planning firm. I specialise in providing advice to medical practitioners, primarily at consultant level. I partner with doctors to help them make smart decisions with their money. I believe that good financial advice is not about providing recommendations on the best investment products or picking the next 'hot shares'. I firmly believe good financial advice is about working collaboratively with people, to help them develop habits and behaviours that that will enable them to reach their goals. My goal is to make a fundamental difference to my clients lives.
