• Developed HikeAdvisor, an end-to-end product that recommends California hikes to a user based on their favorite hikes and/or desired hike attributes (www.hikeadvisor.net). • Utilized a hybrid approach of collaborative filtering and NLP feature-based methods to build a recommendation system performing five times better than random guessing.• Webscraped 5,000 trail pages and 250,000 text reviews from AllTrails.com using BeautifulSoup and analyzed them using a word embedding model (word2vec). • Deployed a web app on AWS built using Flask and HTML/CSS.
