My responsibilities included carrying out customized lesson plans and facilitating discussion based on weekly topics including critical thinking, time management, conflict management and diversity. As one of the founding members of the LBSA, I helped sculpt the mandate, vision and plan of action for a student group experiencing tremendous growth since 2009. I devoted 4 years to the team, working my way up from Event Coordinator to Vice President of Marketing to President. As Event Coordinator, my very first pitch was the "Traffic Light Party", an event to generate revenue and create awareness for the newly formed group. The event was a huge success and has won "Best Social Event" at the Ryerson Commerce Society Awards 4 years running. During my presidential term, the group was also awarded "Best Academic Event 2013" for a project I pitched and piloted, "Alternatives to Law School". For this event, we partnered with the Career Centre to respond to a continuously voiced concern, “What do I do with this major besides law school?” We designed a round-table-networking event that introduced students to professionals from fields such as risk management, government regulations and compliance, corporate social responsibility and privacy. For better succession in the future and to combat an issue the team experienced, I introduced the ‘Apprentice Program’ which gave first year students a chance to get more involved and provided for a smoother and more efficient transition into the executive team.
