In May 2022, I was hired as a tax consultant for an acquired tax firm in the centre of Cologne to take over the deputy management of the branch office/new office to be integrated in order to utilise the capacity of the previous tax consultant and to take on the professional and disciplinary responsibility of the 7 employees. At the beginning of the job I was on site for full days and this was put into perspective when I accepted the interim ‘Global Head of Tax’ position at a medium-sized chemical group for 2 1/2 years full-time. Tasks here: Advising clients, such as support in tax matters, preparation of tax returns and annual financial statements, client acquisitionDeveloping tax strategies for companies and private individualsUpdating specialist knowledge - your own and that of your employees through ongoing training and dealing with current tax law developmentsEmployee management, such as managing and supervising a team of 7 employees, including employee appraisals, performance reviews and team developmentOrganisational management, such as ensuring that law firm processes run smoothly, planning and coordinating workflowsBudget responsibility, such as monitoring the firm's budget, cost control and sales planningEstablishing and maintaining a women's network with networking by organising and holding events as part of the ETL event series WNL in Cologne to network women in the medical sector/related industries (and now extended circle of female entrepreneurs)Workshops and seminars, such as the planning of training programmes that address the needs of women in the industry or simply allow them to ‘relax’Communication and public relations, such as representing the tax firm and the women's network at industry events, trade fairs and networking eventsPublic relations, such as creating content for social media
