• Served as the Global Health Security Coordinator in the CDC Center for Global Health, coordinating CDC’s global health security policy, strategy, budget, and communications efforts with the CDC Office of the Director and four CDC centers, institutes, and offices (CIOs). • Provided support to the Center for Global Health Director as the primary liaison for the Center’s relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO). Led efforts to improve collaboration with the WHO Health Emergency Program, including development of a new strategic framework for collaboration and joint planning process. • Developed scientific and technical projects to identify, review, and analyze complex actions related to implementation of CDC global health security activities. Engaged with CDC programs to lead the development of global health security strategic and operational plans. Coordinated with other CDC programs to ensure planning activities are complementary and provide products of value to CDC, partner organizations, and host countries. Works closely with CDC personnel, interagency stakeholders, and international partners to develop objective-driven plans for investments in global health security capacity building.

• Was the primary liaison between the CDC Director and seven CDC centers, institutes, and offices covering the areas of global health, infectious diseases, global health security (GHS), laboratory science and safety, the 2014-2015 international and domestic Ebola outbreak response, the 2016 Zika virus outbreak response, and the polio eradication response. • Served as a subject matter expert and provided direct support to the CDC Director to prepare for daily meetings, international travel, and other internal and external activities.• Prepared policy documents, Congressional testimony, talking points, presentations, emails, background papers, and information reports and briefs for the CDC Director.• Effectively and proactively built and managed cohesive relationships both internally to CDC and externally with other agencies and partners. • Traveled and served as aide-de-camp to the CDC Director on official engagements both domestic and international and leads preparation of all technical and logistics aspects of travel in advance of trips.

•Coordinated CDC's global health security (GHS) planning and implementation activities, focusing on the development of CDC-supported activities to support host countries in improving their ability to prevent, detect, and respond to biological events. •Led efforts with program managers, International Health Regulations (IHR) (2005) Coordinators, agency-wide partners, and other work groups and committees to further CDC’s support of partner countries' development of capacities to detect, respond to, and control potential public health emergencies of international concern. •Served as the lead of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center for Implementation of the IHR and worked closely with WHO and CDC programs to respond to requests for assistance related to IHR implementation.•Developed scientific and technical products to identify, review, and analyze complex actions related to implementation of public health scientific and technical guidance. Engaged with CDC country teams overseas to lead the development of country-specific global health security strategic and operational plans and global health security technical guidance. •Coordinated with other CDC programs to ensure planning activities are complementary and provide products of value to CDC, partner organizations, and host countries. Worked closely with CDC personnel, interagency stakeholders, and international partners to develop objective-driven plans for investments in global health security capacity building.

•Served as Program Officer for the Department of Defense Cooperative Threat Reduction Cooperative Biological Engagement Program (CBEP).•Advised and provided policy analyses and briefings for U.S. principals in Washington and at U.S. Embassies abroad; closely coordinates with U.S. interagency partners. •Regularly participated in U.S. policy fora and international engagements with senior government officials, U.S. experts, and officials from other nations. •Monitored program activities to ensure that efforts are in compliance with U.S. nonproliferation policies and support foreign policy and national security objectives•Reviewed current events that may affect regional biological security and U.S. security relations, composed background studies on key security issues involving U.S. security interests, and regularly prepared meeting papers, trip reports, and other briefing materials.•Lead and participated in numerous DoD and U.S. Government interagency delegations to international partner countries with regular interactions with ministerial- and technical-level leadership.

• Developed a novel method for the discovery of microorganism natural product biosynthetic systems by high-resolution mass spectrometry and applied high-resolution mass spectrometry to the in vitro analysis of more than five natural product biosynthetic pathways.• Performed original research using advanced, state-of-the-art techniques in microbiology, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and cell biology in an interdisciplinary, team-based laboratory environment. • Managed all aspects of basic scientific research execution including securing grant funding, managing grant funds, publishing manuscripts and presenting research findings to diverse international audiences.• Authored eight peer-reviewed articles, presented four oral presentations at regional and national meetings, and assisted with preparation of three grant applications.• Awarded highly competitive fellowships from the American Chemical Society and the National Institutes of Health to support graduate research in molecular biology and analytical chemistry.
