I was very successful at translating visual information to auditory and spatial information for the benefit of students who could not rely on visual information to learn math and graphing. One of my students passed College Algebra, which was a first for the organization. Most visually impaired students took courses that were more computational and required less graphing.

Organized and supervised projects for Youth Volunteers to serve in nonprofit agencies across the Kansas City Metro.-Created a library of service learning projects, discussing global and local issues related to the agencies served.Organized and supervised some adult volunteers.Completed over 40 hours of professional development. Worked with agencies and schools to provide volunteer opportunities throughout the year.-Worked with the Literacy Coordinator at Operation Breakthrough to provide a volunteer opportunity for youth to read with young children every week.-Worked with Vice Principal at KIPP Endeavor Academy to created a student community service club, culminating in a school wide project.-Worked with teen leader of local home school students to provide bi-weekly service projects.-Planned, organized, and supervised Summer Sensation. An 8 week day-camp style volunteer effort. Supervised 10 to 30 youth, working at a different agency each week. Planned largest fundraiser of the year: YVC Battle of the Bands. -Gathered over two thousand dollars in product and other in kind donations for raffle and prize packages.-Auditioned and prepped bands for show, including meeting with parents.-Contacted and secured local radio and entertainment personalities for judge panel.-Designed and published event logo, fliers, web-page, VIP invitations and event decorations.-Secured event space and equipment as in-kind donations; dramatically reducing event expenses.-More than doubled event earnings from 2009 to 2010.-Served as General supervisor the day of the event: coordinated, stage and equipment technicians, musicians, adult and youth volunteers.-Tasks successfully completed by 6 staff members, and approximately 40 volunteers: decorations, camera stations, equipment and stage set up, judge accommodations, band accommodations, and event staffing. -Promoted the event by appearing on a local television show.

I enjoyed working on a database project for Transimpex in part because it allowed me to work in an environment with a view of the global economy. Transimpex secures contracts for translators and interpretors who also have legal, medical, or industrial expertise needed to complete complicated technical translations. I merged 3 legacy databases, purged duplicate and obsolete records, organized and verified data through internet research and cold calling. In 2009, Transimpex Translations is Celebrating 35 years of high quality foreign language services. We offer a complete array of services to make sure that completed projects are a high quality representation of the original communication. We have a network of translators and interpreters that are also engineers, doctors, lawyers, writers, scientists, and advertising professionals.Our quality control process involves a team of professionals including: a translator, an editor, and an industry consultant when necessary. We want to make sure that the foreign language document is an accurate translation, and that the terminology is appropriate for the intended foreign language audience. We stand out by offering high quality, personalized services, and maintaining a network of translators and interpreters who specialize in specific industries.

I keep a tab on various industries that use receipt roll paper for cash registers and credit card machines. Specifically, health, retail, the hospitality industry, and receipt roll resellers.

This was a troubled urban school with low test scores. The in-school curriculum had been reorganized to focus exclusively on bringing up test scores. I ran an after school enrichment program for gifted and talented students. We completed art projects, science projects, went on field trips, studied and practiced fitness techniques. I wrote and directed a civil rights play where the student performed for the community. We completed service learning projects for the sister elementary school.

Just a few of the functions I performed for the campaign: volunteer coordination, event planning, compiled ethics commission financial reports, fundraising, copywriting, webbuilding, graphics design, supporter communications, direct mail projects, generally representing the candidate at various local events, some photography.

Hideaway was the perfect college job, offering a flexible schedule, a large network of other students studying various fields, and higher pay than other similar jobs. Though working was as much fun as it was sometimes stressful, everyone learned alot about customer service, business ethics, and what a good company ought to do to keep good talent. The perks were great, and the turnover was way below industry average.

Performed sales function for inbound call center, attended Consumer Electronics Trade Show, Team Product Specialist, trainer for new staff, presented new products to various departments for training purposes, promoted to professional products sales team (EMU products). Communicated with tech support, order entry, rebate department and repair services department to satisfy customer requests and inquires.

I worked for this locally owned bookshop starting out a cashier and book filer in high school. I eventually became the phone representative and shipping and receiving manager for the nationwide used and rare book search, which was advertised in yellow pages across the country with the ubiquitous 1-800 number. As the used and rare book business began to change, the First Edition Book Shop adapted new technologies. When I started, all of our national book searches were conducted by telephone inquiries, post card quotes, and subscription want-ad communications through the used and rare book networks. We started to upload our collection through subscription electronic databases before uploading directly to the internet bookseller websites and eBay just a few years later. I started my work life with a fascinating introduction to how technological changes effect business and how data is collected and organized in a computer in a general way, regardless of what type of interface is used to access and manipulate the data.
