I am experienced in commercial disputes, toxic tort, environmental, and products liability. I have represented corporate clients (Fortune 500 companies and small companies), individuals, universities and public entities in state and federal courts in business disputes, construction contract disputes (public & private), employment discrimination claims, CEQA claims, CERCLA claims, unfair business practices claims (Bus. & Prof. sec. 17200), product liability and toxic tort actions, and probate litigation. In the business arena, my clients litigated contract, real estate, and partnership disputes. Issues include contract performance, contract interpretation, agency issues, and partner relations. As outside general counsel, I also review and edit contracts and provide general legal advice.In the public arena, I represented governmental entities in contract disputes, including contruct disputes, Proposition 39 claims, tort claims, police misconduct allegations, civil rights claims, and CEQA litigation and appeals.In the area of probate litigation, I represented clients in complex claims involving disputes regarding testamentary intent, undue influence, Section 850 petitions, and business succession issues. Often, the cases involve disputes between blended family members and the disposition of the decedent’s business interests and corresponding assets.In the area of toxic tort and products liability defense, I have represented clients in high exposure cases involving wrongful death, devastating illnesses, and catastrophic injuries brought by consumers, employees and family members alleging secondary exposure. Clients' alleged liability has been premised upon a diverse array of products, both industrial and retail, and has extended into the realm of premises liability. Chemicals include benzene, silica, mold, and asbestos exposure. Products I have defended include chemicals, plastics, engines, generators, medical devices, and industrial and residential appliances.
