I have a diverse academic background with a strong foundation in science and education. I completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and a Doctor of Philosophy in Vision Science. Expanding my expertise further, I earned a Master of Business Administration, equipping myself with a broad perspective that bridges the gap between scientific research and administrative leadership.I have significant experience in academic program management and teaching. I previously served as the Program Manager for a graduate-level training program in Vision Science at the School of Optometry, where I managed all aspects of the program, including curriculum development and student support. I am now an Instructor in the Office of Interdisciplinary Graduate and Professional Studies, where I administer graduate certificates in Research Communication and Research Lab Management. My contributions have also included the administration of the CIRTL (Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning) Teaching Certificate, which fosters the development of effective teaching skills among graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.I instruct courses in research communication, lab management, and teaching, emphasizing integrating educational technology and using artificial intelligence in instructional settings. Her work aims to prepare students and professionals for successful careers in both academic and non-academic environments.My commitment to advancing STEM education is evident in my involvement with the Alabama Academy of Science. I have served in various leadership roles, including as the Co-Chair of the STEM Education section from 2023-2024 and now as the Chair. In this capacity, I lead recruitment efforts, plan and coordinate educational initiatives, and oversee the organization's STEM education program and annual meetings.
