Since 2013 and in particular in 2015 2and 2016 we focussed on 2 key activities: Supporting the implementation of the INSPIRE (European - Environmental - Spatial Data Infrastructure) directive and to manage the land and in-situ component of the European Satellites Initiative now re-named to Copernicus.As of mid 2011, we added the responsibility to manage the GMES operational component on land called GIO land.Since 2010, after becoming head of group, we are managing the following topics in our group:- SEIS activities with EU bodies and Member States- selected SEIS implementation projects (related to linked data and some semantic aspects)- support of INSPIRE implementation - metadata, metadata services and reference data aspects of the EEA's SDI- linkages to the European and global SDIs (incl. GEOSS)- support of EEA Environmental data centres mainly on SDI aspects.

Before 2010, I managed the EEA contribution to the Water Information System for Europe (WISE) including the establishment of information system related to it (system architecture, website, services, data defintion and collection system, GIS guidance and mapping aspects)Before 2006, I worked on Reportnet, streamlining of reporting obligations, terminologies (GEMET) and integration of the ETC/CDS work into EEA

- conceptualise and implement the Lower Saxony Envrionmental information system NUMIS esp. the spatial part GEOSUM- acquire and run a big DLR/DARA funded remote sensing project to support nature / peat monitoring and populate the GEOSUM information base- represent Lower Saxony in the federal state working group on Environmental Information Systems (BLAK-UIS)- lead the sub-group of the "BLAK-UIS" on GIS- manage the European Topic Centre on Catalogue of Data Sources supporting the work of the EEA and its network EIONET

Various project and teaching /training activities:- Training on GIS in general- ARC/INFO training- Manage and lead out projects for the Lower Saxony Ministry of Environment, the Nature Park WaddenSea and WASY on the Spree river system
