The competition took place in March in the BMA house. The judging panel comprised of representatives from the Health Foundation, Department of Health, NHS England, McKinsey, Institute for Healthcare Improvement and Directors of all five London Medical Schools. The trophy was given by Dr Andy Mitchell, Director of NHS England-London.

The patients primarily presented with a torn anterior torn anterior cruciate ligament, sometimes extending to the unhappy triad, broken radius, rotator cuff pain, scapula fracture, back pain, and depressed patella. During the evenings I would assist in the operating room, where there were at least two operations everyday. I sutured the patients and helped with instruments in the arthroscopic procedures.
