He is working as postdoctoral scholar at College of Forestry – Oregon State University (USA), with a research grant on landslide monitoring and numerical modeling. He is also supporting as consultant a project on interaction landslides and pipes in Italy with Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Politecnico di Milano.He obtained the PhD title with summa cum laude at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences - University of Milano - Bicocca, with a research grant related to geological analysis and numerical modeling of large landslides. The PhD period included a stay of 6 months at the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (Kyoto University, Japan). He spent one year as researcher fellow at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Politecnico di Milano with a research grant on experimental characterization of solar panels foundation.He obtained the Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Geological and Earth Sciences (2011 and 2014) at the University of Milano - Bicocca with theses in Engineering Geology dealing with large slope instabilities and rock mechanics characterization of unstable slopes.His research interests are mainly focused on: large landslides mechanisms, kinematics and dynamics; factors predisposing and controlling slope failures; rock mechanics, including rock mass characterization from terrestrial laser scanner and photogrammetric data; characterization of landslide shear zones and their comparison with fault shear zone, creep behavior (visco-plastic approach), deep analyses of monitoring data and triggering factors and periglacial environments (i.e., rock glaciers and permafrost distribution).During the Master thesis and the PhD, he carried out both field and laboratory activities, including geomorphological and engineering geological field surveys. He planned and executed laboratory tests on soils at the laboratory of the DPRI at Kyoto University (Japan), including both classical characterization tests and more specific analyses on the shear zones behavior developing an innovative type of test using a ring shear apparatus.
