I am currently finishing my PhD in Bioengineering that I started three years ago for enhancing a passion for problem solving and research and innovation in healthcare. During the last three years I mainly focused on the development of a new device for breath analysis for respiratory disease. The device is based on a technology named electronic nose that mimicks human olfaction to recognize odours. The idea is that every pathology has a unique smell print that can be recognized by a trained system (do you remember dogs that recognize COVID?)With this project and all the side activities I worked on I had the great opportunity to be responsible for this project facing a huge variety of problems on sensors, electronics, data collection and analysis, to collaborate with multidisciplinary team (mainly medical doctors and other kinds of engineers), present my work at the scientific comunity, spend time abroad in other research groups (Perth in 2019 and Barcelona in 2022) and work with amazing people who did their one year master thesis project working with me side by side every day. During these last three years I also gave classes to bioengineering and medicine students being fascinated from the curiosity that can rise during university and from the possibility to help students in becoming adults All the previous mentioned experience helped me in understanding the importance of working in a team of passionate people, the importance of having responsibilities and the importance of having different point of view of the same problems in order to work together to do better.
