About Stefano Fasciani
After my 2006 M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering I joined the Atmel Corporation advanced digital signal processing research and development center in Rome working on embedded platform and applications for high-end sound processing within the framework of several research projects funded by the European Commission. In 2009 I was appointed as a research fellow at the National University of Singapore, where I was responsible for the design of the audio component of a software system developed at the Multimodal Analysis Lab. One year later I was awarded with a 4 years fully funded Ph.D. scholarship, and my research was focused on sound and music computing. In particular I worked on novel techniques for the control of digital musical instruments supported by artificial intelligence. After I joined the Digital Signal Processing lab of the Nanyang Technological University as postdoctoral research fellow, leading a team of researchers working on urban active noise control. Then I was an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. Currently I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Musicology at the University of Oslo. My research interests are computational methods supporting the creation of sonic arts, computer music, musical interfaces, sonic interactive systems, sound synthesis, psychoacoustic-related sound analysis, music information retrieval, adaptive human-computer interaction, applied machine learning, digital signal processing, embedded systems and architectures for real-time audio applications. I hack electronic musical instruments, compose music, and perform in live electronics acts, experimenting novel performance practices, musical genres on the edge of the modern club culture, and multichannel audio.
Listed skills include Digital Signal Processors, Signal Processing, C++, Matlab, and 45 others.
